General Tab
- Minimize to system tray icon.
When this option is checked, minimizing the main application window will put it in the system tray (where the clock is) instead of the task bar. This option is checked by default.
When this option is checked, ATCSMon will automatically save your settings to the current .ini profile. Otherwise, it will prompt you to save changes when you exit. This option is checked by default.
When this option is checked, ATCSMon will start a new capture file automatically when starting up.
- Open new capture file at 12:01.
When this option is checked, if ATCSMon is capturing at 12:01, it will start a new capture file at 12:01am every night. If ATCSMon is not capturing and this option is checked, nothing happens.
- Add Locomotive to database.
When this option is checked, any ATCS-Equiped locomotive will automaticaly be added to the database when they are heard.
- Server data connect flushdown.
If you are running as a server, enabling this option will send all the current controlls and indications to a network client when they connect.
- Enable toolbar traffic LED.
When checked, this enables the little green "LED" on the far right-hand side of the tool bar to flash on when ever traffic is received. This option is checked by default.
- Enable server connection logging.
If you are running in server mode this option will log inbound connections to your server.
- Enable DDE Mnemonic output.
Enables use of DDE, see the
UsingDDE topic for more details.
Enables use of DDE relays, see the
UsingDDE topic for more details.
- Enable user-defined DDE names.
Enables user defined DDE topics, see the
UsingDDE topic for more details.
For server operators, disables the decoding error dialog boxes that can pile up on an unattended machine.
- Max Plotpoints/Automatically update plot height.
When running a MCP Data Plot, this value defines the maximum packet history for an MCP. After that number is reached, the oldest packet get purged to make room for the latest data. [There's got to be a better way to explain that, but it escapes me now...] Note that Plot Points equate to the X axis on the data plot. Select "Automatically update plot height" to have ATCSMon adjust the window height in response to additional mnemonics. Max Plotpoints defaults to 100, and Automatically update plot height defaults to checked. Note that keeping too much history per MCP (setting Max Plotpoints higher) can affect performance of ATCSMon.
When replaying a log file, add this delay between each packet while processing the file. Defaults to 0 (no delay).
???
The path to the master ATCSdb file which contains all the MCP data. Usually you will want this to be the default, however, if you need to maintain multiple databases due to duplicate MCP IDs, etc, you may need to change this option. Defaults to the program installation directory (Usually C:\program files\ATCS Monitor").
- Logs, MCPs, etc. folder are in:
Defines where ATCSMon will look for it's directories (Layouts, MCPs, etc). You can set this to either the installation directory (default), or to be the same as the ATCSdb path (see above).
Windows Tab
In this tab, you can change the colors, fonts, and display options of the various main program windows. Some options of interest are:
This option sets how many messages will be kept in their respective windows. After the max message limit is reached a new message pushes the oldest message into oblivion. Defaults to 50 for the Messages Window, and 30 for the Packet Display window. If you are monitoring a busy server, and often need to go back and view the history for an MCP, you may want to sed the Messages Window value higher.
- Control and Indication Format
These check boxes will dictate how the "Datagram User Data" column is displayed in the Messages window. By default, all options are checked, so when a data packet will be decoded it will show the binary representation of the data, the hexadecimal representation, and the mnemonics. It will look something like this:
01011101 10001100 (5D 4C) NWK,1EGK,2WGK,1EAK, ... If this is an undecoded MCP without any mnemonics, it may look something like this:
01011101 10001100 (5D 4C) K27,K25,K24,K23,K21,K18,K14,K13 Most users wont be interested in the Binary and Hexadecimal format, and will uncheck those options.
